I was considering what mixes to post next when I realised I haven’t really divulged much into the world of mash up mixes.
Now, there are thousands upon thousands of these out there and generally they are awful and just don’t work. I wasted my time listening to a mix of DMX and Phil Collins not so long ago, how anyone thought that would ever work is beyond me.
However, there are some gems to be unearthed underneath the pure mass of horrific mixes. The main problem with the majority of these mash up mixes (other than absurd genre mixes) are that the beats, keys and pitches just don’t match and the tempo of the acapella’s have to be tampered quite significantly, meaning the tracks often sound just plain wrong. Some mash ups are poorly put together and some mixes will never work no matter who is attempting to the mix. Here are a few of the better ones out there:
