Well, after a month or so I am back. Due to work and uni work my time has been limited recently hence the lack of post, apologies. That is all going to change, I promise. I have still been keeping up to date with mixes that have been put out and here’s a taster.

One of the best mixes I have heard in a while, Damon Albarn’s distinctive vocals are perfectly suited to cover The xx and this is complimented perfectly by J Thunder’s chilled out mix. This is available as a free download from J Thunder’s site. Do it.
Britney Spears – ‘Till The World Ends (The Bloody Beetroots Remix)

I am not usually a fan of Britney Spears, so I was surprised and somewhat skeptical to see that Electro/House producers Bloody Beetroots had decided to mix ‘Till The World Ends. I need not have worried and in all fairness the mix really works and I am big fan. Check it out.

The original of this track is safely tucked away in our archives if you wish to check it out, but for me, this remix by Style of Eye tops the original. If you like synths and a house beat you will be mad for this, really worth a listen.
Arctic Monkeys – Put Your Dukes Up John

As I’ve posted before, I love the Arctic Monkeys and will not hear a word against them, so you can imagine my delight at the new material steadily coming out from the Sheffield four piece. The latest album Humbug seems to divide fans quite considerably and the time spent with Josh Homme in the desert has clearly influenced the material they have released in the last couple of years. Personally, I love it but it is quite a step away from the raw aggression and social commentary of growing up in the north that shot the band to fame with albums Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I Am Not and Favourite Worst Nightmare.
To celebrate the return of Arctic Monkeys, here is one of their lesser known and one of my favourite B-Sides from Leave Before the Lights Come On, which is much closer to their older sound.
