The Remix Roundup – Part 4!

Submitted by / 13 years ago / New Songs

I must once again apologise for the lack of posts from me in the last week or so. I will endeavour to get more music to you quicker. Promise. Right, onto today’s post, I am going to try and give you something of everything so you can explore a variety of genre. It’s so easy to get stuck in a cycle of listening to the same tracks over and over. I am certainly guilty of this.

First we are going to delve into the electro dance scene via two of the hottest names in the game. This is a dirty electro edit by The Bloody Beetroots of Bounce by MSTRKRFT. The EP of Bounce includes the original track and three remixes with this remix being by far and away the best, arguably outdoing the original. Bounce.

I was listening to A Weekend In The City by Bloc Party for the first time in forever this morning and I bloody loved it. So it seems fitting to select a track from that album that has been mixed. Surprisingly, there is no remixed album like that of ‘Silent Alarm’ and ‘Intimacy’ so I’ve lifted a track from an archive of Bloc Party remixes. This is a remix by JFK of Flux. Lovely stuff.

So far we have had an electro mix and an indie mix so now we are going to step over to the genre of drum ‘n’ bass. I had several ideas for this but in the end I’ve gone for the Mistabishi remix of Science of Fear by Temper Trap. Can’t really argue with how good this is really.

Despite my love of indie, rock and electro remix I still absolutely love Hip Hop. A guilty of pleasure of sorts (although I don’t feel too guilty). I can’t tell you how excited I am for Dre’s new album. The track I’ve chosen here for my Hip Hop mix is 99 Problems. I know what you’re thinking, not another 99 Problems remix, heard that. To be fair, I don’t think is a song out there more remixed than 99 Problems but this is more the reason to put the best one on here. This is a mash up of the acapella from 99 Problems and the rift of the Lullaby by The Cure. It’s from the album Cut Up or Shut Up – The Remix Project 2 by Popchop. It can be found in clothing store Urban Outfitters along with a load of other amazing albums similar to this. Definitely worth checking out and giving a listen.
