Remix of the Year 2010 – The Result

Submitted by / 13 years ago / New Songs

After posting the final vote for the remix of 2010 competition on the blog, I quickly found that I had a moral dilemma on my hand.

I went through the same routine as usual as publishing the post, tagging all of the artists that were featured here on Twitter. What I was not expecting was an instant retweet from Ellie Goulding that simultaneously appeared on her Facebook Fan Page too. This meant that 187,000 followers on Twitter, and 700,000 fans on Facebook were exposed to the fact that she required votes to win the contest.

Naturally a lot of these fans flocked to the page in order to register their vote for Ellie, which meant that she received a shedload of support for both of her remixes that were featured. Now there’s not a lot wrong with that, but the fact that the other nominated tracks did not receive the same level of support from dedicated fans means that the poll results were slightly unfair, essentially defeating the object of this contest.

So with that in mind I have decided to crown an official winner, and an unofficial winner (the unofficial winner was the track who received the most votes behind Ellie Goulding’s remixes).

Official winner: Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (Russ Chimes Remix)

“Unofficial” winner: Clare Maguire – Ain’t Nobody (Breakage’s Suck It Up Mix)

Congratulations to all four winning artists, the competition was very tough this year so they have done brilliantly to come out on top. Here’s hoping that the caliber of the remixes in our 2011 competition will be up to the same standard.

Thanks once again to Henry for the artwork!
