Pendulum dropped in to Radio 1’s Live Lounge this morning to deliver two tracks for us to listen to, the first being a performance of their new single The Island – Pt. I, (and more interestingly) the second being a cover of Linkin Park’s new single The Catalyst.

I found that one of the main highlights from Pendulum’s new album Immersion was the two Island tracks Pt. I & Pt. II, but for me they don’t work so well when they are split up and played individually instead of back to back like they should be. It was a decent live rendition but I was waiting for a drop that never arrived.

Pendulum’s cover of The Catalyst on the other hand was absolutely fantastic, and as the band correctly pointed out before they played it, it was a track that was well suited to their style of music. They put their own twist on the song but obviously took the time out to get the synths proper nailed down which I thought was a nice touch.
