Do you remember back in March when we first featured the then 14 year-old singer Birdy who had just shot to prominence following her amazing cover of Bon Iver‘s Skinny Love? Well, the school holidays have finally begun and Radio 1 took the opportunity to invite her to Maida Vale to appear on the Live Lounge.

That was this morning, and she appeared to deliver her new single which is a cover of The xx‘s Shelter, as well as another cover of Ed Sheeran‘s recent single The A-Team.

Birdy revealed that she is traveling to LA this summer to finish off recording her album of covers that will be released later this year. It was also revealed that she plans to record her own album of original music once that has been completed. Personally I think this is a great idea as the covers album will be a great way to spread her name before her own music hits.

Very much looking forward to that.
