After receiving a tip-off that new Russ Chimes material would be making an appearance on Jaymo & Andy George‘s In New DJs We Trust Radio 1 show, I was all over iPlayer like a rash. Whilst mysteriously I didn’t find any hint of new Chimes, I did manage to catch this beauty of a bootleg by Danny Daze and Young Edits.

It’s old school Aaliyah with a new school twist, and I love it. God knows what kind of music Aaliyah would have been making if she was still with us, but we kind of hope it would have sounded something like this.

Just a radio rip for now, but Danny has already strongly hinted that they make this bootleg available as a free download in the very near future.

edit: They decided against releasing the full version on Aaliyah’s birthday or the anniversary of her death, instead choosing to drop it on Valentines Day. Cute.
