Fresh from the back of taking the #1 spot in the UK with “Hot Right Now“, Roc Nation (Rita Ora‘s management) finally decided it was time to start promoting her solo career. Last week Jay-Z dropped a new track called “Party & Bullshit” during a surprise visit with Rita Ora to New York radio station, Z100. I thought it was quite poor, and so did a lot of other blogs so it’s not really a surprise to see that they have swiftly unveiled her first proper single called “R.I.P.” which features a guest verse from Tinie Tempah.
As you will be able to tell from listening to the single, it heavily features portions from the classic remix of Nneka‘s “Heartbeat” by Chase & Status (who are also in charge of producing “R.I.P.“). Again I can’t help but feel that this is a disappointment for those of us who were already well versed with the remix. It’s nothing new, and I didn’t expect the duo to be rehashing their own material which was only released back in 2009, but at least it’s better than Drake‘s version I suppose.
I also can’t see how the release of “R.I.P.” will stop the Jessie J vocal comparisons which have been doing the rounds recently. *shrug*
