So here we have Cheryl Cole’s debut solo album. Is it going to sell well? I don’t think I even need to answer that, Cheryl seems to have attained an almost godlike status in the UK now – she can do no wrong. She has recruited some musical heavyweights to help establish herself as a certified solo performer, no longer is she standing in the shadow of Girls Aloud (or more accurately Nadine Coyle).
Will.I.Am (Estelle – American Boy, Fergie – Fergalicious, Pussycat Dolls – Beep), Fraser T. Smith (Rui Da Silva – Touch Me, Tinchy Stryder – Number 1, Pixie Lott – Boys And Girls, Taio Cruz – Break Your Heart), The Runaways (The Saturdays – Forever Is Over, Keri Hilson – Energy, I’m Every Woman – Whitney Houston) and Taio Cruz (Tinchy Stryder – Take Me Back, Sugababes – Girls) are all heavily involved in the making of this record.
The album itself is alright, nothing amazing by any stretch although I’d probably like it more if the content wasn’t based upon Ashley Cole. There are some standout tracks and there’s no question that thousands of X-Factor, GA fans will flock to buy this as soon as they can. Negative points go to Will.I.Am for absolutely murdering Little Lies by Fleetwood Mac in “Boy Like You”.
