I’d expect that those of you who are fans of the Klaxons are sitting there and thinking to themselves “it’s about fucking time!”, and yeah, it is.
The Klaxons have been away from the scene for about 3 years now, which is quite a long time to take out considering they have only released the one studio album.
Although they had demoed new tracks during various gigs in 2008, rumours were flying around that at the beginning of 2009 they were told by their record label to re-record parts of their album as they weren’t prepared to release it in that state.
“We were an art project that got out of hand,†says bassist Jamie Reynolds, “but now we are a band.â€
This frank realisation has obviously spurred them on to greater things, as yesterday they premiered their new single Flashover on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show.
It’s a bit of a different sound to their previous work, perhaps a bit more rocky, although they have stuck to their guns with the inclusion of their trademark shrieking guitars and celestial falsetto vocals.
See what you think of it below. I think I bloody like it!
