Although he is a talented singer/songwriter in his own right, the majority of Bastillle‘s fame to date has come from his fantastic mashup covers (for example his cover of City High‘s “What Would You Do?” that instantly shot to #1 on hypem).
A few weeks ago he put together a 7-track EP called “Other People’s Heartache” which is full to the brim of his brilliant takes on modern classics. My favourite track from the release is “Requiem For Blue Jeans” which crosses Lana Del Rey‘s new single “Blue Jeans” with “Lux Aeterna” by one of my favourite composers ever, Clint Mansell (Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, Smokin’ Aces, Moon, Black Swan, etc).
