Well this is a bit fucking epic isn’t it? Earlier today The xx were invited into Maida Vale (once again) to record a session for Zane Lowe‘s Radio 1 show which was broadcast a few hours ago. The xx took centre-stage to perform three tracks: “Fiction“, “Tides“, and “Together” (which was the centrepiece of the recent “Great Gatsby OST“).Â
In order to get the full flavour of the track from that live environment, the trio drafted in the Heritage Orchestra to deliver the string section which was originally composed by the legendary Craig Armstrong. Craig is one of my favourite composers, and the arrangement that has been put together is goosebump inducing – arguably sounding better than the original studio version.
