Chase & Status – No More Idols (Album Review)

It’s only because I know my Mum won’t read this that I can say the following: No More Idols is fucking quality! I’m a well-brought up young man but this seems the best way to describe such a stunning album.

Chase & Status stay true to their heavy dance, drum and bass roots with this album but expert collaborations see this album transcending genres and crossing musical divides. The list of artists involved speaks volumes of how highly rated Chase & Status are, no matter the music scene. Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, Cee-Lo Green, Claire Maguire, and Plan B demonstrate the array of talent and big names on offer.

The key to No More Idols is that these artists have been hand-picked for their style and sound, rather than their popularity. They aren’t on the tracks to promote the album (although, they certainly won’t hurt album sales) but to compliment the heavy, thick, engaging beats laid down by Saul ‘Chase’ Milton and Will ‘Status’ Kennard.

Stand-Out Track: I’m tempted to list every track from the album but rules are rules. Embrace gets the nod as the boys link up with White Lies to highlight that their style has no musical boundaries.
