Charlie Simpson - Young Pilgrim (Album Review)

Yeah yeah, haters gon’ hate and all that. Charlie Simpson of Busted and Fightstar fame has gone and released his debut full-length album entitled Young Pilgrim. Whatever your thoughts on the guy, this album isn’t actually half bad and his talent as a singer-songwriter is clear to see. Go get it on iTunes now. This could be, dare I say it, his best work yet.

With a voice as readily identifiable as the likes of Patrick Stump and Anthony Kiedis, Charlie obviously knows good production value goes a long way in the music industry and has subsequently sung us an album filled with slow-tempo songs that’ll calm your heart rate after all the electro I’ve been posting recently. With a range of instruments present and an agreeable blend of folk, pop and acoustic sounds, you feel like you’ve woken up in a barn with a friendly chicken pecking at your checkered shirt and dungarees. What could be better?
