A few weeks ago I posted up Penguin Prison‘s remix of Resurrection by The Temper Trap, honestly thinking that it would be the best thing to come from their forthcoming Conditions: Remixed album. I was very, very wrong.
I’ll be honest and say that I didn’t reach that conclusion right away, I went through several changes in opinion when listening to this track for the first time. When I first heard the vocals I had to double check that this song featured someone called Kate Tempest as I was sure that I was listening to a young guy.
Once I got over the initial shock, I actually started analysing what Kate was rapping about. What I was hearing was some expertly crafted poetic lyrics with a confident and experienced delivery. This track doesn’t contain your typical rap garbage about how much money they possess, these lyrics will sooth and caress your ears with their beauty.
And when bretonLABS‘s instrumental finally kicked into top gear it was game over for me, I was instantly in love. Both of these artists are definitely on my radar now.
This tune is fucking epic.
