Somewhat embarrassingly this is the first Remix Roundup of the new year due to course commitments but to make it up to you I’ve put together a monster post for you featuring Avicii, Arctic Monkeys, DJ Fresh and Florence + The Machine as well as many others. Let’s get started with the aforementioned Arctic Monkeys.
The Sheffield band did the rounds last week across Britain and the first of todays tracks comes from their recording on Radio 1’s Live Lounge. It was strange actually because I rarely listen to the radio and for once I decided to tune in and it just so happened that this outrageously good cover had just started. Enjoy.
Arctic Monkeys – “On a Mission” (Katy B Cover)
The next of todays tracks comes from Florence and (more importantly) The Weeknd. I was introduced to The Weeknd through Drake who I have come to like of late. Especially the first half of Take Care which is excellent. Amongst my many searches I found this remix of Shake It Out which can be purchased via the EP, something I heavily suggest you follow up with.
Florence + The Machine – “Shake It Out” (The Weeknd Remix)
Whilst browsing through tracks that I thought would be appropriate for this post I found this remix of Rusko by DEFEP that I totally forgotten about. Check it out.
Rusko – “Everyday” (DEFEP Remix)
After a break through summer, Foster The People have become a band producers have been unable to stop remixing. The Fat Rat does excellent work on the track Don’t Stop for example.
Foster The People – “Don’t Stop” (The Fat Rat Remix)
You’ve all heard Hot Right Now by DJ Fresh and the Cameo & Crooked remix Mark is so in love with, but I have managed to grab a few mixes you may not have heard yet. I haven’t given them all fair listening but I’ll let you make up your minds on what the best ones are in this little collection.
DJ Fresh – “Hot Right Now” (Kamuki Remix)
DJ Fresh – “Hot Right Now” (Redroche Remix)
DJ Fresh – “Hot Right Now” (Zed Bias Remix)
I heard this next remix from a local DJ who surprised the whole crowd with this excellent mashup which I immediately downloaded the next day.
Martin Solveig Vs Michael Jackson Vs Afrojack Vs Anthem Kingz – “Black or White” (John Marr Mash Up)
I decided to go for something a little different in choosing this next remix. This feature sometimes flirts with more full on pop remixes but it is still an area that needs more attention. He is a handy remix of Glad You Came by The Wanted courtesy of experienced producer Alex Gaudino.
The Wanted – “Glad You Came” (Alex Gaudino Remix)
Avicii. Avicii. Avicii. Avicii. <3
Avicii – “ID2″ (Instrumental Version)
Ash – “Let Me Show Your Love” (Ash & Avicii’s Hype Machine Mix)
This track has been doing the rounds for a fair while now but in case you missed it then here it is in all its beautiful glory. Honestly, it is one of the best remixes I’ve ever head. And that is saying something.
M83 – “Midnight City” (Eric Prydz Private Remix)
Just going to change the pace slightly and offer this interesting mix put together by Manic Focus who have rejiggedMad World by Gary Jules. Like I say, interesting.
Gary Jules – “Mad World” (Manic Focus Remix)
Kele + Sander Van Doorn = Brilliance. A formula that cannot be disputed. This is very, very good. Enjoy it.
Kele Vs Sander Van Doorn – “What Did I Do” feat. Lucy Taylor (Miami Life Remix)
