Clare Maguire – Strangest Thing

Submitted by / 14 years ago / New Songs

Clare Maguire has often been touted as an artist to watch out for, but until now we have only been treated to rough demos of her sound. She dropped out of school at the age of 16 to pursue a career in music using the familiar talent springboard, Myspace.

Electro producer Primary 1 was eager to utilise her talents after listening to her music, and whisked her away to record some demo tracks. Since then she has had Jarvis Cocker, Plan B, and Mike Skinner write songs for her, Universal Music offer a multi-million pound contract, and been plied with shots by Jay-Z at his restaurant in New York.

After she signed with Universal, her Myspace page was wiped of all traces of her music and she was whisked away to begin writing and recording with some of the biggest names in music, including Fraser T. Smith who has helped develop and hone her current sound (I swear Fraser Smith has his fingers in so many pies that he must be a robot, or a longtime sufferer of severe insomnia).

Now it seems that the PR machine has started to go into overdrive, so I guess the world is finally ready to hear some of Clare’s finished work. The first release is been a fully mastered version of one of her initial demo tracks, Strangest Thing.

She has such a unique and powerful voice, that it’s hard to imagine that she won’t be immensely successful in the next few years, and it’s easy to see why industry tongues were wagging so wildly when they first heard her Myspace material.
