Lupe Fiasco‘s highly anticipated mixtape Friend of The People dropped earlier today much to my delight. As you might have deduced from the title, the mixtape has a political slant to it which has become increasingly prevalent in a lot of his new work, but he’s not the kind of artist where you will feel bogged down by his words, and the beat selection is simply impeccable.
For instance on the second track, Lupe Back, he goes in over Nero‘s album cut Doomsday, on Double Burger With Cheese the sample is taken from Ohio by Justice, SNDCLSH In Vegas borrows the instrumental from Lick It by Kaskade & Skrillex, whilst the closing song on the album The End of The World! samples Midnight City by M83.
With plenty more interesting samples onboard too, Friend of The People is definitely worthy of a download.
